The primary subfields of the project are formal semantics and typology. The project also has connections to syntax and morphology, and will involve development and application of fieldwork methods for investigating unfamiliar languages.
The researcher will help to lead the project. Duties will include, in collaboration with the rest of the research team: developing stimulus materials and a methodology for collecting reliable data on this topic; selecting a sample of languages; collecting, systematizing, and analyzing data on quantity superlatives and related phenomena; making the data available publicly; and studying its theoretical consequences from a typological and formal semantic perspective.
The applicant must have a doctoral degree. The doctoral thesis should be in an area that is relevant to the project.
Scientific proficiency is the most important criterion for assessment, and special attention will be given to the applicant’s academic works. It is also crucial that the applicant be qualified to help lead the project through which the position is funded.
