This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage a strategic project with Airbase Interiors, world leaders in the manufacture of high-performance products for aircraft interior fittings used by firms including Boeing and British Airways.
The University of Manchester and Airbase Interiors are looking to recruit an associate design engineer to undertake this 24-month project which has an overall aim of designing and manufacturing tamper-proof life-vest storage units for use on the new generation of passenger aircraft which are requiring increasing levels of security technology (Boeing and Airbus).
The position will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to become an authority on the specification, design and development as well as the manufacture of high-performance items for commercial aircraft using cutting-edge materials and manufacturing techniques.
The successful candidate will receive formal management training and will have access to a personal and professional development budget of £4,000.
Candidates will require a Masters degree and relevant industrial experience in product design, industrial design, design engineering or textile engineering.
This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry.
Based at Airbase Interiors near Gatwick, the successful candidate will work directly with supervisors from both the University and from Airbase Interiors and will use the facilities and resources of both organisations.
Interviews will take place at Airbase Interiors, near Gatwick, during w/c 4th December 2018 and the successful candidate will need to be able to start by 11th January 2018
