A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for two years starting from January 2018 (or earlier if possible) to undertake research and development in the analysis of fuel cells by infrared and Raman microscopy. The project is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, in the area of understanding the effect of membrane interface chemistry on electro-chemical processes. Researchers will be involved from 3 Universities (Manchester, UCL and Newcastle) and two Schools within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, together with industrial and other partners

You will play a leading role within a work package on optical spectroscopy linked to a broader programme of research.

You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or related discipline. Expertise in the application and development of IR and Raman spectroscopy is essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and be able work effectively alongside project partners in the consortium so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.
