The Department of Physics is an internationally lively research environment, situated in the AlbaNova University Center and has about 240 employees, 250 undergraduate students and 90 PhD students.
One or more postdoctoral openings will be available for outstanding individuals to work with Prof. Katherine Freese in the areas of particle astrophysics and cosmology. The position is funded by the Swedish Research Council.
Stockholm University has a world-class research group in cosmology at the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics, including involvement in DarkSUSY, SPIDER, Simons Observatory, XENON-1T, Icecube/DeepCore, FERMI Gamma Ray Space Telescope, LSST, and ATLAS at CERN. The postdoctoral fellow is welcome to participate in Scientific Programs at Nordita, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, which bring together groups of leading experts to work on specific topics for extended periods. The postdoctoral fellow will also have access to generous research and travel funds, excellent benefits as well as excellent computing facilities.
The central research themes will be theoretical topics in cosmology and particle physics including dark matter, LHC, early universe physics, and learning about fundamental properties of the universe using cosmological data.
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.
The degree should have been completed by the starting date of the position and no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills.
Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years, with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date September 2018 or as per agreement.
