Project description
The research group of Prof. Frank Wilczek at the Department of Physics at Stockholm University in collaboration with Nordita invites applications for a postdoctoral position in theoretical physics connected to axions. The scope of the search includes condensed matter analogues of axions as well the particle physics around axions and their cosmological implications. Candidates with interest in experimental design are also encouraged to apply. This position is the first in several appointments that are expected to be made by Frank Wilczek, with the goal to build a world leading research activity related to axions. The funding is provided by the European Research Council under the Advanced Grant Program and the Swedish National Research Council.

Main responsibilities
Research on the subject of axions, widely interpreted, as described above. The successful candidate will work as part of Frank Wilczek’s research group in Stockholm.

Qualification requirements
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country. A suitable background is a Ph.D. in Physics with emphasis on theoretical research as described above.

Assessment criteria
The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.

In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills. The successful candidate will have expertise in at least one of the focus research areas of the group, and is expected to be able to do independent work, work in collaboration with other group members and participate in the supervision of Ph.D. students.
