Information about the project
The Department of Physics seeks a highly motivated and talented physicist to join the Plasma Theory group at the Division of Subatomic and Plasma Physics and work on fusion plasma physics. Fusion has the potential of becoming a long-term environmentally friendly and resource efficient energy option. This postdoc project concerns theoretical fusion plasma research, with focus on issues that are relevant for the large-scale fusion experiments that are in operation or under construction in Europe today. The purpose is to address one of the outstanding challenges: impurity control. The work will be performed in close collaboration with theoreticians and experimentalists at Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Greifswald and Aalto University, Helsinki.
The aim of this postdoc project is to investigate impurity transport driven by collisions and turbulence in magnetic fusion devices. The work includes both theoretical analysis and numerical simulations. Your major responsibility as a postdoc is to perform your research in a research group. The position can also include teaching and supervision of MSc and/or PhD students to a certain extent (which will be agreed upon later). The candidate will be employed by Chalmers and will receive a salary according to current salary agreements.
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).
PhD in physics or in a closely related field is required (degree obtained before the employment begins). Previous experience in fusion plasma physics is considered as a strong advantage. The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.
