Postdoc Position: Data Center Networks, KTH, Sweden: KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. The main task will be to actively contribute to the SENDATE research project currently running in the Lab. This also implies possible co-supervision of PhD and MS students involved in the activities.
The SENDATE project mainly deals with programmable large cloud networks composed of several distributed DCs interconnected by a high capacity inter-DC fiber links. More specifically the project will study a data plane infrastructure that provides high capacity and allows for provisioning connections in a flexible way both within and between DCs. In addition, the project will also investigate an appropriate control framework to dynamically allocate heterogeneous types of resources (i.e., network, processing, and storage) when and where needed.
The new researcher will also have to contribute in the ongoing efforts in the Lab to try secure new research funding.
The candidate should be an expert in network planning and traffic engineering for optical core and metro networks. The candidate should have a deep knowledge of both intra- and inter- datacenter networks (DCN).
The candidate should have previously worked on planning and resource optimization along with scheduling techniques for: wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks, elastic optical networks (EON), intra- and inter-DCN, space division multiplexing (SDM) networks. In addition, it is also required to have experience on design strategies for filterless optical networks based on programmable white boxes and on integrated approaches for replica placement and service provisioning in inter-DCN using manycast and anycast routing paradigms.
Finally, the candidate should be fluent in linear programming. He/she should have programming skills in C, C++, Matlab, and Python and should be familiar with shell scripting languages.
The candidate is expected to hold a PhD degree and to have a strong publication record in international journals and conferences. The candidates should have excellent skills in spoken and written English.
The candidate should be able to work independently, and is required to have previously worked in national and international projects. The candidate should have good interpersonal skills and should be able to supervise graduate students
