The School of Sociology and Social Policy (SSP) is a vibrant, diverse and exciting centre for social science teaching and research. We are a multidisciplinary unit covering criminology, public policy, social policy, social work and sociology. Cutting across these disciplinary boundaries are two shared values:the promotion of global and social justice and a desire in our teaching and research to ‘make a difference’.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a background in Sociology and Criminology to join an established team in the School of Sociology and Social Policy. The role holder is expected to make a significant contribution to research and teaching in Sociology and Criminology in the School. Taking responsibility for the quality of their educational programmes they will maintain high standards of teaching, and contribute generally to the development of teaching, teaching methods and assessment in sociology and criminology. The successful candidate will also be expected to take an active role in teaching administration and the wider development of teaching within the School.

We welcome applications from recent PhD graduates and from those close to award but applicants must have relevant teaching experience.

This is a full-time job but we will consider applications from candidates who wish to work part-time (to 0.8FTE, 29hours per week – please indicate your preference on your application). The role is available from January 1, 2018 on a permanent basis.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Ian Shaw (Ian.Shaw@nottingham.ac.uk). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.

The University of Nottingham is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
