DTU Compute’s Sections for Cyber Security, invite applications for an appointment as Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor within cyber security. The position is available from April 1, 2018 or according to mutual agreement.
The department DTU Compute is an internationally unique academic environment spanning the science disciplines mathematics, statistics and computer science. At the same time, we are an engineering department covering informatics and communication technologies (ICT) in their broadest sense. DTU Compute plays a central role in education at all levels of the engineering programmes at DTU – both in terms of our scientific disciplines and our didactic innovation.
Responsibilities and tasks
Through the position the University seeks to strengthen the research within cyber security. The cyber security section at DTU has experts in cryptology, in particular the design and analysis of ciphers, hash functions and in side-channel analysis, and in the security of distributed and pervasive computing systems, in particular support for secure collaboration across administrative domains and in other low trust environments. The section wishes to broaden its research within all areas of cyber security.
Topics of particular interest include:
- access control (both policies and mechanisms);
- authentication and identity management systems;
- blockchains and distributed ledger technolgoies
- malware analysis, digital forensics, and ethical hacking;
- privacy and privacy enhancing technologies;
- security in pervasive computing systems (incl. cyber physical systems, IoT, mobile healthcare systems and wireless computing systems); and
- trust management systems.
Interest and skills in pedagogical work and dissemination of mathematical sciences will play an important role.
You will work together with other members of the section to develop and strengthen our current course offerings in cyber security. The department offers MSc and PhD courses and projects. Teaching and development of courses have a very high priority at DTU Compute. In particular, the span of introductory courses is constantly being developed with respect to both content and the most modern educational tools and methods. The department is well- known for its modern, engaged and pedagogical teaching and prioritizes that all employees participate actively in course development. To support this, all new employees are offered university teaching courses.
At DTU Compute, we value knowledge sharing and cross functionality. Therefore, you are expected to cooperate and be eager to build relations with colleagues in the department and with other departments of DTU.
You are expected to participate in departmental teaching at all levels so you should value visionary and meaningful communication. The teaching will cover Bachelor-, Master- and PhD-level courses. Bachelor courses are taught in Danish, other courses in English. Candidates who do not speak Danish should be willing to learn Danish within the first two-three years in order to be able to teach in Danish.
Candidates for an
- Assistant Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in applied mathematics, computer engineering or computer science.
- Associate Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in applied mathematics, computer engineering or computer science as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship and should document didactic/pedagogic training.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
The assistant professor position is a permanent entry-level faculty position. After a maximum of 4 years, an assistant professor can be promoted to an associate professor position after assessment. More information can be found here: Career paths at DTU.
