Postdoc Position: Protein-Chemistry, DTU, Denmark: The National Food Institute (DTU Food) offers a 2 year position as Postdoc in protein-chemistry within the research area of allergy.

You will be part of the Research Group for Microbes, Health and Allergy at the Division of Diet, Disease Prevention & Toxicology. The research group is a dynamic and highly ambitious research team.

The primary research focus of the allergy research is the relationship between different protein-chemical characteristics of food proteins and their capacity to induce either allergy or tolerance in order to develop new and improved preventive, treatment and diagnostic methods.

We are seeking a motivated and highly talented Postdoc, skilled within protein-chemistry, to join the Research Group for Microbes, Health and Allergy. The postdoctoral researcher will work, in close collaboration with colleagues, on highly interdisciplinary projects within the interface of protein-chemistry, immunology and microbiology.

You will be part of research and innovation projects:

  • Within the area of preventive and treatment strategies for food allergy
  • Involving national as well as international collaborations
  • Involving academic as well as industrial collaboration

Responsibilities and tasks
Your work tasks will be multi-disciplinary, with a primary focus on protein chemistry. You will be involved in different research and innovation projects, where you will work in close collaboration with other researcher and lab technicians. Your main tasks will be:

  • Responsibility for protein-chemical analyses
  • Idea generation and establishment of new methods
  • Dissemination of scientific results, incl. publications
  • Daily supervision of student projects

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.

The successful candidate is expected to have solid knowledge and experience within protein-chemistry. The preferred candidate is ambitious, has a high motivation for research excellence and good command of written and spoken English.
Required protein-chemical skills include:

  • Gel electrophoresis
  • Immunoblotting
  • Chromatography
  • Mass spectrometry
  • In silico analyses

Further, preferences will be given to candidates with knowledge within:

  • Immunology
  • Animal models
  • Basic microbiology

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The workplace will be at the new Life Science & Bioengineering building specifically designed to accommodate and facilitate our activities. The building is located at the DTU main campus in Kgs. Lyngby at the outskirt of Copenhagen.

The period of employment is 2 years.
