Research Assistant/Associate (Fixed Term)


Applications are invited for a British Heart Foundation-funded Research Associate post in the field of platelet activation and arterial thrombosis. The successful applicant will join Dr Matthew Harper’s research group in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Cambridge. A key aim is to understand how platelet procoagulant activity is controlled during arterial thrombosis. Candidates should have a strong background in cardiovascular research and a PhD in a relevant biological subject. Experience with platelets would be advantageous. An ideal candidate would also have experience in Ca2+ signalling assays, platelet flow cytometry, in vitro models of thrombosis, or whole blood assays. We are seeking to recruit at post-doctoral level, but we will consider applicants who have recently submitted a PhD thesis. The salary range if appointed as a Research Associate is £31,604 – £38,863 pa and as a Research Assistant is £25,728-£29,799 with promotion to Research Associate on attainment of PhD. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
