UQ Centre for Clinical Research
The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR) is a $70 million purpose-built facility sponsored by Atlantic Philanthropies, the Queensland Government (Smart State funding) and UQ. The building, completed in early 2008, is located at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital site at Herston, Brisbane. The RBWH is the largest teaching hospital in Australia and the site also houses a basic medical research institute (QIMR), and a significant Faculty of Medicine presence, including the Schools of Public Health. The UQCCR has capacity for 320 staff with affiliation guided by research strengths, assessed by defined research quality indicators.
UQCCR’s mission is to improve health outcomes for individuals and populations based on rigorous, high quality clinical research. This is achieved by facilitating research and training, influencing patient care, and providing the translational linkages between basic and applied scientific research, the patient, and health outcomes. The current research themes are: Clinical Neurosciences, Pathology and Infectious Diseases.
The Centre of Research Excellence
The Centre of Research Excellence in Redefining Antimicrobial Use to Reduce Resistance (CRE REDUCE) is focused on formulating and testing innovative antimicrobial dosing regimens in order to prolong the lives of our current antimicrobials and minimise the development of antimicrobial resistance. The Centre is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and administered by UQ’s Faculty of Medicine.
CRE REDUCE builds on the discoveries of antimicrobial resistance scientists in Australia and around the world, including at the internationally renowned Burns Trauma and Critical Care Research Centre at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
The role will provide bioanalytical and pharmacokinetic research expertise to the CRE and make a major contribution to our goal of developing global capacity in antimicrobial resistance research and clinical practice.
We are seeking applicants with a Research Higher Degree in pharmacokinetics, high level knowledge of bioanalysis and chromatographic laboratory techniques.
The successful applicant will be able to set up and run the Hollow Fibre Infection Model for in vitro pharmacokinetic analysis of drugs and supervise development and conduct of novel chromatographic techniques for clinical samples.
The University of Queensland values diversity and inclusion.
This is a full-time fixed term appointment at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,534 – $87,535 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,505 – $102,416 p.a.).
