The role

The purpose of this position is to design and develop suitable models and algorithms for robot manipulation tasks in the presence of partial observability, and test the algorithms on tasks of interest to Woodside Energy. The appointee will perform all tasks associated with robust manipulation planning within the research team of Dr Hanna Kurniawati, while collaborating closely with Woodside Energy, Australia’s largest independent oil and gas company.

The person

You should have a PhD in the area of robotics or closely related field. Demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of planning and control of robot manipulator(s), fluency in C/C++ programming as well as familiarity with ROS and methods in decision making under partial observability is essential. A demonstrated track record in research, as demonstrated by publications in high-ranking refereed journals and conferences, and ability to propose, lead and manage research projects is essential.

This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 12 months available at Academic Research Level A or Level B.  Appointment level will be commensurate to qualifications and experience.

The remuneration package for Academic Research Level A will be in the range $64,534 – $87,535 per annum plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504 – $102,416 per annum).

The remuneration package for Academic Research Level B will be in the range $92,143 – $109,419 per annum plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $107,807 – $128,020 per annum).
